Thanks so much for your kind comments Karen, Hina, and Ginger! I was nervous about sharing this, so thank you for your support!

Explaining my feelings as a mix of love, hope, and trepidation is the perfect way to describe them, Hina. But one thing I’ll say about holding Alex for the first time… I just KNEW he was meant to be with us. He was so quiet and sad at first, but I could tell there was something special underneath it, and he just needed time to blossom. I’ll admit though that I was far more fearful when it came to Alina, and I did not have those same certain feelings. But I’m so grateful that we moved forward anyway, as she is a darling sweetheart and the perfect match for our family too!

Denise,
This was the first thing I read on New Year’s Day and it was a wonderful way to start the year. It is beautifully written, candid and shows the depth of love for your children. The pictures allow us to get a glimpse of your journey with Alex and capture the emotion along with your words. Thank you for sharing the journey, you’ll open eyes and hearts.

Denise, this took courage to share and I admire you for it. All the pictures are special in their own way but I am particularly stuck by the three in which you are facing the camera with young Alex. Looking at your face, I try to grasp what was going through your mind at this particular moment? A mix of Love, hope, trepidation? I concede, I can’t even imagine. I do take heart from the fact that this story has a happy ending and continues to fill your life with joy.
May the new year brings you and your family more joy and peace and may your children continue to be the light of your eyes.

I love love these pictures! It’s hard to choose a favorite-each is a study in its own. The wall flower picture is a reminiscent of the one you took in Haddon Hall. Thanks for sharing your lovely memories with us.
